Sean Bluechel (b. 1969, San Francisco, CA) is a painter and sculpture living and working in New York, NY. His clay sculptures and abstract paintings retain lighthearted pleasure in creating. Bluechel graduated from the San Francisco Art Institute, San Francisco, CA, in 1999 and from Yale University, New Haven, CT, in 2003. He has done residencies at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Skowhegan, ME, and at Iaspis, Sweden. His work has been subject to national and international exhibitions including: MoMA PS1, Long Island, NY; Richmond Center for Visual Arts, Richmond, MI; Andrea Rosen Gallery, New York, NY; and Mary Boone Gallery, New York, NY.
