Amy Lincoln
Using an intricately manicured style, Amy Lincoln (b. 1981, Bloomington, IN) applies opaque layers of bold, unnatural colors to paint her imagined landscapes, creating an exotic sense of the natural world. Lincoln’s dream-like atmospheres are inspired by the overcast beach skies of her Oregon upbringing, through which she continues to explore light phenomena of reflection and refraction.
Lincoln received her MFA at Temple University’s Tyler School of Art in 2006 and her BA at University of California, Davis in 2003. Lincoln’s work has been the subject of solo exhibitions including Amy Lincoln: Monoprints at Main Projects, Richmond, MA (2025), On the Strangest Sea, and Radiant Spectrum at Sperone Westwater, New York, NY (2024; 2023), Rainbow Sky at Taymour Grahne Projects, London, UK (2022), among others. Her work has also been featured in numerous group exhibitions including Summer House, organized by Thea Smolinski at Pablo’s Birthday, New York, NY (2025), Earthbound at DC Moore Gallery, New York, NY (2025), Enchanted Lands: Jen Hitchings, Amy Lincoln, Anna Ortiz at Johansson Projects, Oakland, CA (2025), Present ’23: Building the Scantland Collection of the Columbus Museum of Art at Columbus Museum of Art, Columbus, OH (2023), American Women: The Infinite Journey at Galerie Valerie Bach, Brussels, Belgium (2020), among others. Lincoln has been awarded residencies at the Wave Hill Winter Workspace program, the Inside Out Art Museum Residency in Beijing, and a Swing Space residency from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. Her work is in the permanent collections of the Columbus Museum of Art and Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia.
